A NATIONAL business organisation is putting East Lancashire on the menu when it comes to doing deals over a working lunch.

The Business Network, which formed in other parts of Lancashire in May 1999, is launching an East Lancashire branch next month at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel, Clayton-le-Moors.

"We have had a number of calls from business in the east of the county which have heard about the success of Business Network, hence the decision to launch," explained Richard Lea, who runs five networks across the country.

Already, 48 firms have booked a place at the inaugural lunch on December 8.

"Our aim is to create the perfect lunchtime environment for finding new business," explained Mr Lea. "Business Network is an ideal forum to exchange ideas and really develop a strong referral network. In so doing we foster local business success which means more job security locally too.

"Members know they have two hours, over lunch, to network and are therefore very focused."

People arriving at the lunches are given a list of who is attending and visitors leave their business cards on the tables to encourage deal-making.

"It really does work and we are very proud that the Business Network has taken off so quickly," added Mr Lea.

In just 12 months the Preston Business Network benefited from £150,000 worth of new business.

Members pay an annual membership fee.
