POLICE in St Helens have launched an operation to target and reduce violence, burglary and car crime in Parr, Hardshaw and Broad Oak.
The Community Action Team operation involves high visibility policing and plain clothes officers will be targeting "hot spot" locations, including licensed premises.
DC Aidan Lavin, the operation co-ordinator, said: "The CAT will target people who use violence and cause disorder and the aim is to make the Parr, Hardshaw and Broad Oak wards safer for the people who live there.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to remind the local community to resist the temptations to buy any goods they may believe are stolen and I would urge anyone who may have any information about stolen goods to contact us.
"Since the start of the operation on November 1, 19 people have been arrested for burglary and violence offences."
Anyone with any information can contact Operation Broad on 0151 777 6041, or the free confidential Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
