A DOOR to door collector was threatened and robbed by three men as he walked back to his car in Clock Face.

The incident happened at about 6pm on Monday, November 6 as the 39 year old man, who was collecting for a credit company, had just visited a house in Hammersley Avenue and was walking back to his car when he was surrounded by three youths, all aged about 15. One was brandishing a bottle and threatened to hit him if he didn't hand over his takings.

He refused and hit out at one of the youths, knocking him to the ground. However, the other two overpowered him and stole around £50 in cash takings before all three made their escape.

The victim later described the man with the bottle as about 5ft 9ins, very thin with a bony face, blond hair, pale skin. He wore a dark coloured tracksuit and apparently resembled the 'Jamie' character from the TV soap, Eastenders.
