A junior football club is sending out an SOS -- Save Our Season!

For Newfield Warriors under 13s team are desperately looking for a manager -- and if no-one comes forward then they may have to fold.

The Hyndburn and District Boys League club have had problems filling the post this season.

For despite the hard work of organisers and parents they have not managed to hold on to a team manager.

Warriors had thought they had solved their problems but their latest manager reluctantly had to give up the position due to increased work commitments.

The club formed last season and has attracted a number of young players from the Fishmoor Estate area of Blackburn.

Anyone interested in managing the side should contact Linda on 01254 663135.

They say lightning doesn't strike twice but that is simply not the case.

Admittedly, it may have taken its time in coming around again, but goalkeeper Graham Seedhall can lay claim to scoring two goals direct from his own penalty area.

The first time was a few years back when he was playing an under 18s Central Lancs League cup final.

However, the second occasion was a lot more recent -- Sunday to be exact.

For Seedhall found his name on the scoresheet again when his long punt upfield sailed over the head of the Mayfield keeper. It rounded off a fine 10-2 win for his side, Wilpshire Bulls Head in the Sunday Memorial League.

For the record Warren Barker, Charles Street and Martin Seedall all scored hat-tricks.

Organisers of the Blackburn Community League are planning to hold a junior seven-a-side tournament during the half term break in February.

The tournament will be held at the new small sided pitches at Witton Park on February 20 and 22 between 10am-4pm.

The event is open to teams from under 8s to under 13s and entry fee is £15 per team.
