BOLTON South-east MP Brian Iddon will be seen waiting at a bus stop tomorrow as he officially opens a scheme which has brought a better service to hundreds of passengers.
The Labour politician will launch the town's section of the Bolton-Atherton-Leigh Quality Bus Route at the boarding point on Derby Road, which has seen improvements since March this year.
The stretch of highway now has bus lanes, 15 passenger shelters, new-style bus stops and plates and better information.
A spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive, said: "Passengers are benefiting from improved waiting facilities, better passenger information and the more reliable service that has been afforded by the introduction of bus priority measures."
Approximately 4km of the 12 km route is complete and the remaining section in the Wigan district will be completed by next summer.
It is hoped the work will improve public transport links between Bolton and Atherton and Leigh. It has been developed as part of Greater Manchester's Integration Project, through a partnership between GMPTE, Wigan Council, Bolton Council, First Manchester and the 3Ds Partnership.
