Rochdale Mayfield 44 Scorpions U13s 0

THE SCORPIONS travelled to Rochdale to face league leaders Mayfield but they were forced to leave for home without scoring for the first time this season.

The match was played in terrible conditions with the rain reducing the pitch to a quagmire.

The Scorpions found it hard to adapt to the conditions and sloppy ball control allowed Mayfield to take the advantage.

However, there were some good performances by Adam Bennington and Adam Crane in the first half who both made some good driving runs.

But it was Mayfield who pulled away in the second half and ran out the convincing winners.

And the score could have been bigger but for some excellent defending by Philip Mitchell, Scott Marsden and Carl Eastwood.

THIS was a much improved performance by the Scorpions second team against a very experienced Wigan side.

After letting in 46 points last week the Scorpions defence was much improved, restricting their opponents to only two tries.

What few chances the Scorpions had of scoring were wasted by poor ball control.
