SEVEN air training cadets from 206 Thornton Cleveleys Squadron, represented the North of England in the Annual Gala at RAF Cranwell, Lincolnshire.

The fantastic seven are all members of Newton Hall Swimming Club in Staining who faced regional teams from all over the country.

Superb individual results from Penny Edmonson who won the backstroke and was runner up in the individual medley, Kathryn Whitley who was third in the butterfly, Lisa Schofield was fourth in the freestyle, Nikki Moss third in freestyle and fifth in individual medley and his brother Bobby fourth in the backstroke.

Samantha Taylor joined the girls to win both the freestyle and individual medley relays and Steven Whitely joined the Moss Brothers for a reputable third in the senior boys freestyle relay. The final result was never in doubt as the Newton Hall Swimmers gained 160 points, 14 ahead of nearest rivals Central & East District on 144 points with Wales and West District in third place with 111 points.

Penny Edmonson and Nikki Moss have already been selected for the National Air Cadets Swimming Team and it is hoped that other Newton Hall Swimmers will also gain selection.

Newton Hall Swimming Club is seeking new teachers to help with the demand. If anyone is a qualified ASA swimming teacher or would like to become qualified free of charge, the club would like to hear from you.

If you could give a couple of hours a week to help teach, the club will train you as ASA teachers and pay for your exam fees.
