WYRE JUNIORS A U9s 2 WYRE VILLA 1

WYRE Juniors having not played for three weeks due to the weather were very quick out of the starting blocks and nearly found the net virtually from kick off. The game settled into a fairly open contest in the first half with both sides going close, but it was the Juniors that opened the scoring Chris Riley picked up a pass from the right side of play before turning in the box to smash in a right foot shot past the keeper.

Further chances fell to both sides with the Villa defence thwarting further efforts from Chris Dodgson and Chris Riley for Juniors. It was only a matter of time before Villa broke through the Juniors defence to score a well taken goal that took it in level at half-time.

Villa came out in the second half pushing for the winner but up stepped Tom Holland to slot the ball away midway through the second half to leave the Juniors having to battle hard to the final whistle and victory. WYRE JUNIORS U U9s 5 WYRE VILLA B 1

WYRE Juniors had to come from behind in the first minute of play to record a convincing win, that with a bit more composure could have resulted in a greater score line.

Villa's first attack of the game saw a sharp move down the Juniors right resulting in a goal. This seemed to stir up the Juniors with goals from Mason Woodward and Jake Barnes pushing the Juniors noses in front.

With a missed penalty and the woodwork coming to the rescue twice, the half-time whistle came too soon.

The second half continued where the first half left off with the juniors bossing the game and Jake Barnes added his second of the game with two goals from Chris O'Neill to round off a very pleasing performance.
