PROFESSIONAL golf caddy Michael George Canmore was remanded on bail until November 27 by Blackburn magistrates charged with driving with excess alcohol.

Canmore, 42, gave an address in Snape Street, Darwen, where his solicitor, Michael Singleton, said he is in the process of moving to from Northern Ireland.

Mr Singleton said Canmore had recently returned from America where he had been caddying for an Argentinian golfer who had tried, unsuccessfully, to win a place on the American tour. As a result Canmore would not be working again until the European tour starts in March.

Mr Singleton said he would be candid with the court in indicating that Canmore would be pleading guilty to the offence but wanted to retain his licence long enough to return to Northern Ireland to collect the rest of his possessions and complete his move to Darwen.

The magistrates agreed to a two-week adjournment on condition that Canmore surrendered his passport.
