A 36-YEAR-old man said to be responsible for an unprovoked street attack has been cleared.
Craig Thripp, of Bridge Street, was found not guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm, after a two-day trial, at Burnley Crown Court.
The prosecution had alleged the defendant threatened to kill Peter Lord and then hit him in Newchurch Road, Stacksteads, last June.
Thripp told the jury he thought he was about to be "jumped on "or hit and had punched Mr Lord once. He said he accepted he caused the injury to Mr Lord's eye.
