BILLY Elliot eat your heart out! Blackpool has its very own superstar in the making in 16-year-old Andrew Chadwick (pictured) who intends to dance and sing his way into the hearts of the nation.

Ambitious Andrew, who lives near Stanley Park, started toe-tapping at just six years old at Langley Dance Centre and has since notched up a stream of rave reviews around the region in pantomime and summer season.

And he was picked out as a star in the making by Sarah Sharp, our Showbusiness Editor, when she reviewed Blackpool Children's Pantomime Dick Whittington last year!

And if that's not enough he was voted "the person most likely to succeed" by St Mary's School just before leaving this summer.

Just like his feature film counterpart, Andrew dreams of nothing but stage stardom and has recently joined the talented troupe at Phil Winston's renowned Theatre Works in his bid for the top. "It feels like you're the only person in the world when you're in the spotlight," said Andrew in a quick break from his new job as assistant in the Charlie Carolli exhibition in Blackpool Tower. "I couldn't believe it when I was voted most likely to succeed, but I just hope I do. I dream of starring in a big stage musical like Michael Crawford or Michael Ball. I'm working at the Tower to pay for my dance fees and I don't mind if I don't have time for anything else -- this is all I want."

Tutor Phil Winston said: "Andrew has an awful lot to offer -- he's talented, totally focused and hungry enough to do really well.

"I'm just so pleased he's staying in Blackpool and not shooting off to London to train. He's a proper Northern lad with that special grit and determination that needs to be looked after by Northerners!"

Proud mum Pauline, who moved back to the resort from Yorkshire in 1993, said: "Where we lived was like the Hovis ad! Coming back to Blackpool was the best move I ever made because it's given Andrew opportunities that he never would have had.

"I would just love to see him perform in one of the big musicals in front of a live audience. I would be so proud."
