PAUL TERZIS is urging Leigh fans to set the turnstiles ticking.

He wants them to get behind the team for the big game against South Sydney at Hilton Park next Tuesday evening.

"It's a great opportunity for Leigh fans to see some of our off-season signings in action for the first time and to be part of an historical occasion," said the head coach.

"The players are treating it seriously because they know all 17 spots are up for grabs for the opening NFP game against Barrow. Those shirts have to be earned and Tuesday is one of the few opportunities they have to stake their claims."

New signings likely to get a run are Simon Svabic, John Duffy, Liam Bretherton, Martin Roden and Dave Bradbury.

But ruled out through injury is popular prop Dave Whittle who is likely to be missing for another six weeks after damaging neck ligaments while playing for Wales in the World Cup.

Commercial manager Kevin Ashcroft is also whipping up for support.

He said: "It's not often a British side, whether it be national or at club level, go into a match against the Aussies as favourites.

"But Paul Terzis has assembled such a strong squad here at Hilton Park that it should whet the fans' appetites. Tuesday is an ideal opportunity to get down and see them in action.

"It will be a great occasion."

Leigh's squad is: Anderson, Baldwin, Bowker, Bradbury, Bretherton, Bristow, Bourhill, Duffy, Fairclough, Hadcroft, Ingram, Jones, Kendrick, Leathem, Morley, Norman, Patel, Roden, Sanderson, Street, Svabic, Turley.
