ON Tuesday, last week, you reported that Nigel Evans, the Tory Ribble Valley MP, wanted to save the albatross.

On Wednesday, we read of Mr Evans' displeasure that the Ribble Valley's green fields were disappearing under housing. On Thursday, your front-page report was about the advice the MP was going to offer Clitheroe Grammar's headmaster about the cancelled school trip.

On Friday, you reported that Mr Evans denied the claim by Labour's prospective parliamentary candidate that the constituency would suffer £24million cuts if the Tories get back.

On Saturday, your front-page piece about Calderstones Hospital told how, without our MP's advice, the Health Trust would not know the way to set up a probe into a recent assault. For good measure, in the same issue was Mr Evans' call for tougher penalties for driving offences.

Unless I missed it, there was nothing about him in Monday's edition. He must have said something important and we demand to be told why you have kept this from us.

Of course, this is only one week's "snapshot" and, to be fair, you mention the odd bit players who perform in Nigel's dramas. Many readers will be most interested in your continuing and, dare we hope, increasing coverage of the MP's activities.

This self-effacing and retiring politician needs all the help you can give him in the run-up to the election. Oh, and would you please print more of those delightful photos?

Footnote: Mr Evans has indeed featured in the paper on several occasions recently. However, I'm sure he would argue that being a constituency MP is all about getting involved in local issues. I have no doubt that your wish to see more 'delightful' photos of him in the Telegraph will come to pass! -- Editor.
