AGE Concern Metro Bury has launched two new mini-buses to transport old folk to and from its day care centres around the borough
And it was all aboard for Bury's mayor and mayoress, Councillor and Mrs Bill Johnson, who were the guests at the launch of the new vehicles at the charity's Jubilee Centre base.
The £35,000 for the buses came from Age Concern fund-raising and the proceeds of its charity shops. Both vehicles can carry 26 people.
The vehicles are designed to cater for elderly people and come complete with lowered suspension to allow easy boarding and exiting, a chair lift and wheelchair clamping facilities.
Mrs Pilkington added: "These new mini-buses are absolutely vital to the services we provide."
