HOPING to reach for the stars!

That's Bury College's Blue Moon Young Enterprise mini-company which is certainly banking on success.

The squad has been presented with a sponsorship cheque for £150 from the Bury branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Blue Moon, comprising nine students, is involved in marketing and selling a range of goods under the Young Enterprise initiative.

A total of 15 products, geared towards the Christmas market, are being sold to students and to the general public outside the college.

The Royal Bank and local businessman Martin Hardman are acting as business advisers for Blue Moon.

Elaine Hopwood, link teacher, said: "We are delighted with the £150 cheque from the Royal Bank.

"This will be used to meet the trading and Young Enterprise exam costs."

Blue Moon is one of around a dozen local Young Enterprise squads currently up and running throughout the borough.

The scheme is aimed at providing students and schoolchildren with an insight into the world of business.
