HI-TECH Bury company Flexsys UK is celebrating after winning the national Investors in People (IIP) award.

The company, which has branches in France, Germany and the USA, employs 42 people at its headquarters in Victoria Chambers, Silver Street, Bury.

Flexsys provides information technology solutions and support for major international businesses.

Over the last three years, the thriving Bury business has undergone a massive expansion, using Investors in People as a framework for re-structuring its people systems and managing the changes.

Barry Marshall, Flexsys director of administration, says: "We don't sell a product. Our business is selling people's skills and so looking after our staff is very important."

Securing Investors in People status shows a company's commitment towards strict staff development and training.

Mr Marshall continued: "Investors in People has helped us develop the correct management tools to focus on the needs of our staff.

"We have introduced a comprehensive training programme covering technical and personal development, which is ongoing."

He added: "Through Investors in People, the staff have become conscious that as a company we are interested in everything they achieve."

Flexsys was helped out through the Investors in People process by Bolton and Bury Chamber.
