FOR goodness hake! Some people will go to any lengths to prove they are good at art and these artists are no exception!

Blackpool Sea Life Centre is playing host to three artists as part of the celebrations for "Year of the Artist", a programme which aims to bring artists out of the studio and into the community.

The trio -- Denise Durham, Margaret Kenny and Sue Blackhouse -- have been working at the Sea Life Centre to create a huge Blackpool fish, with a little help from pupils from Our Lady of the Assumption RC Primary School in Blackpool and Cawthornes Endowed School in Abbeystead, Lancaster.

The fish was created through basket weaving, embroidery and painting skills, using recycled materials. Della Belk, attraction manager at the Sea Life Centre, said: "We want local people to visit and experience what we have to offer, not just real fish but real artists."

The Blackpool fish will be displayed at the centre and will feature in an exhibition in Blackpool's Grundy Art Gallery next year.
