A POLICE superintendent posed the question "Are all young people bad?" in an address to local youth yesterday, Thursday.

Mary Vaisnys, sub divisional superintendent at Leigh, gave the keynote address at Lowton Civic Hall.

Cllr David Kelly gave an introductory speech to young people from Golborne High School, Lowton Community High School and Lowton and Golborne Youth council.

The aim of the session was to "involve young people in reducing crime and the fear of crime in the wards of Ashton-Golborne and Lightshaw," said Risk management officer John Pendry.

He added the purpose of the day was also to reduce and prevent trouble with youth incidents and crime by young people.

After the address, the audience separated into groups to discuss the issues raised.

In the final session, young people discussed what they would like in their communities and how they can campaign to achieve them.

Cllr Kelly and Nigel Ash chaired feedback sessions.

The workshop was organised by the Twin-Ward risk management group in partnership with Greater Manchester Police and local ward councillors.
