DRIVERS could face delays due to roadworks across the borough.

In Leigh, work on Breaston Bridge continues with the warning that inconvenience may be experienced at certain times.

In Lowton, off peak lane closures will be in force on the East Lancs Road for 14 weeks.

The stretch affected is between Newton Road and the Atherleigh Way by-pass.

Water main refurbishment in Tyldesley, Atherton and Abram will last several months with many streets affected.

Householders will be informed when water has to be cut-off.

King Street, Market Street, Market Place and Leigh Road in Leigh will be affected by footpath and carriageway work in connection with the Leigh-Bolton Quality Bus Corridor and town centre enhancement works. Minimal inconvenience is envisaged.

On-going work continues in Mosley Common Road, Tyldesley, where Transco are carrying out a further gas replacement scheme and North West Water are carrying out works.

In Astley Green the only road through the village is closed at the canal bridge where strengthening work is being carried out.

A diversion route has been signed via the quarry and landfill site access road from the Liverpool bound carriageway of the East Lancashire Road on the Leigh side of Morley's Bridge.
