A CIVIL engineer who claimed somebody else had been riding his motorbike when it was caught on a speed camera, was dubbed a liar by a stipendiary magistrate.
Paul Andrew Sparks, 26, told Burnley magistrates court a man he did not know had taken the bike for a test drive and left his car with him.
Sparks, who admitted he had earlier filled in a form saying he had been the driver, denied speeding but Jonathan Finestein found the case proved. It was Sparks' third speeding conviction.
Mr Finestein told the defendant he had not believed a word he said. He said Sparks had not had the slightest intention of selling the bike and said his evidence was "unconvincing, patently untrue and a tissue of lies."
Sparks, of Market Street, Shawforth, was fined £100, given five penalty points and ordered to pay £300 costs.
