THREE St Annes film students have proved that you don't need big budgets and superstars to make a movie because they have done just that!

And the audience rated it a success at a special premiere held last weekend at St Annes Pleasure Island's cinema.

Psycho Babble, as reported over the past few months exclusively in The Citizen, is a film made by James Wolstenholme, Jemma Twist and Simon Morgan for the tiny sum of £2,500.

Saturday saw its premiere, attended by more than 100 friends and family members plus cast and crew, easily filling the St Annes cinema.

"I'm really nervous," said Jemma, before the film was screened.

"It has only been seen by the three of us, not even the actors yet, so it will be great to see a genuine audience's reaction."

It was written by Colin Davies, and stars a very tall bearded gentleman known only as Oz and Scott Briggs in the main roles, with Leigh Crawford, Barbara Poole and Ollie the dog all having smaller parts. The premiere itself was an impressive affair with huge signs hanging from the ceiling, photographic collages lining the walls and tables littered with props from the film.

It was almost midnight by the time the film was shown and every name that appeared on screen received rapturous applause from the crowd.

And a standing ovation was delivered as the end credits rolled. Afterwards, James's mother beamed with pride.

"He always said he was going to be a film director and now he has actually gone and done it," she said. "I'm so proud."

Enigmatic actor Oz also said this was something they should all be proud of.

"Blackpool is a town full of dreamers and these people have got off their backsides and gone and done something," he said.

The party for friends then continued late into the night with James's brother Ben providing the music.
