A PLAQUE dislodged from Darwen Street Bridge, Blackburn, more than ten years ago has been replaced and officially unveiled.
The plaque fell when a train derailed and hit the bridge abutment.
Coun Ashley Whalley unveiled the new plaque, inscribed with the words L&Y R standing for Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway and the date 1884.
Last year has seen major refurbishment work on the bridge, and an old ,granite drinking fountain has been revealed.
Friends of George Dewhurst, a member of the town's first council, erected the fountain in 1858. Originally located in the west wall of the old market house before being moved to the bridge, the fountain is being repaired and will be placed in the town centre.
