RE the letter from Jeff Tilton (Citizen, October 26), might I take this opportunity to correct his almost total inaccuracies.

I was never involved with North West Tourist Board, other than as a basic member who, on recognition of its failings, withdrew membership.

My "feeble competition" is effective enough to have attracted his attention.

My active involvement in politics extends to 1996 and I am pleased to confirm invitations to play a more involved role on three occasions in the last month.

I resigned from the local party after a request had been made of me which I considered to be dishonest.

I do not claim to speak on behalf of small businesses in Blackpool. I am simply expressing an opinion.

Perhaps Mr Tilton does not feel anyone should disagree with his concept? I am pleased to confirm both hotels in which I have interests have shown increased turnover to the tune of 35 per cent this season to date. Time will indicate the accuracy/inaccuracy of my predictions.

Single Regeneration Budget funding is for the benefit of the town and not single specific units.

Might I enlighten him that the benefit of the "indemnity fund" is not to support the banking sector, in fact the very opposite.

The concept, in simple terms, is the facilitation of increased borrowings for acquisition and developments for which banks require assurance of repayment.

These funds will simply do that thereby reducing the numbers of available properties on the market and by "the law of supply and demand" values and returns will increase.

I realise I must have upset him and will be pleased to offer tea/coffee at any suitable time, by prior appointment, to outline in fuller context, should he wish to expand his knowledge. This invitation is open to any other interested party.

K J Turner,

Dean Street,

Blackpool.
