I HAVE just read Mr George Bancroft's letter in your paper and I wonder is this the same Mr Bancroft who was on the front page of the other paper in July this year with a two page spread inside explaining to readers the "facts" as to why all the rest homes had to close, a situation that was non negotiable?

Yet on September 6, having rejected the council officer's "advice", it was reported that four rest homes would stay open after all.

Now we read in your paper Mr Bancroft offering advice to Mr Steven Bate to "get your facts right, dear" and again issuing a string of his "facts" which unfortunately are in total contradiction to the letter from a care worker that appears on the front page of the same paper.

I have on quite a few occasions now enjoyed reading Mr Bancroft's letters extolling the non-existent virtues of our town and did start to wonder if we actually lived in the same place.

I now feel that Mr. Bancroft has at best a convenient memory and is in no position to give advice to anyone. This sort of cantankerous belly-aching against a particular individual is just the sort of thing that has brought the council into disrepute and I and my fellow members in the Blackpool First Alliance will be working hard to eliminate such attacks.

We are willing to work with anyone, whatever their political colour, to help make Blackpool a better place by listening to the residents of Blackpool and taking on board their views and wishes.

It is about time that the councillors remembered that they have a duty to the electorate who voted them into their positions and therefore should be shown respect.

Respect that should be shown to all, even if they hold different views and express them in a different way. Shame on you Mr Bancroft.

Beverley Moy,

Secretary, Blackpool First Alliance, Warbreck Hill Road, Blackpool.
