Still all Wright

FORMER England striker Ian Wright hasn't lost the old magic.

Wright was back at Turf Moor for a spot of training this week during a visit to see old pal Mitchell Thomas.

And according to Burnley boss Stan Ternent the goalscorers' instinct is still there.

"He looks sharp enough in training," said Ternent, who would love to see the ex-Gunner in a claret and blue shirt again.

But even though Wright may be back on the Burnley training ground in the future, the manager admits his hopes of persuading him to make a comeback aren't high.

"They're dwindling," he said. "He's got so many other things going on his life.

"If he wanted to come back in that would be fine but as I've said you have to respect where he's up to in his life."

However, the 37-year-old striker-turned televison presenter is still a welcome figure in the dressing room for his infectious enthusiasm.

"He's full of it," Ternent said.

Parking protest

Clarets fans weren't too chuffed at apparently being charged a £20 per coach parking fee by Birmingham City for this afternoon's clash at St Andrews.

It's a situation Burnley's various supporters' clubs have faced at a number of grounds this season.

And Paul Smith of Boundary Clarets believes the charges are out of order. Some 40 coaches were heading down the M6 to follow the Clarets today.

And Smith believes that a couple of thousands fans paying at the turnstiles means putting enough cash into the opposition covers.

He's so fed up that he plans to contact the Football Trust to raise the issue.

ANDY Cooke had plenty of sympathy from his boss after landing the club's first suspension of the season.

The striker picked up a fifth booking and will miss the visit of Nottingham Forest a fortnight today. However, Stan Ternent insisted: "It was an unjust one because he was tripped for a penalty."

Swan battle

FORMER Claret Peter Swan is battling to save his career following another knee injury.

Swan, whose second spell at Turf Moor was marred by a serious knee problem, has been on the injured list at York City since the early part of the season.

The problem has put a question mark over the 34-year-old's prospects of playing on.

However, the big defender, who left Burnley to join York in March, is still looking on the bright side.

THE Clarets youth team have been drawn at home to Sheffield Wednesday in the third round of the FA Youth Cup, with the tie to be played by Saturday, December 9.
