A BURGLAR had a change of heart when he learned that his victim was the friend of a friend.
Blackburn magistrates heard that David Paul Thompson arranged to return all the property he had stolen two days earlier.
But scenes of crime police had already found his fingerprints at the house and he was eventually arrested.
Thompson, 21, of Twogates Drive, Darwen, pleaded guilty to burglary at the home of Michelle Martin. He was remanded on bail until December 6 after the magistrates ordered the preparation of pre-sentence reports.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said Thompson had been passing Miss Martin's house when he spotted an open window and climbed in.
Mr Church-Taylor said there had been no ransacking or wanton damage and Thompson had simply removed the property.
"A couple of days later it was made known to him that the house was owned by the friend of a close friend of his and all the property was returned," said Mr Church-Taylor.
