PIGEON fancier Rodney Flint was certainly in good company when he donated one of his prized birds for a special auction in aid of charity.
For one of his fellow donors for the event -- which raised more than £6,000 for Cancer Research -- was Her Majesty the Queen!
Rodney, from Newton-le-Willows, owns 64 racing pigeons and is secretary of the Lancashire Social Circle pigeon fanciers' club.
The auction was held in memory of three fellow members who died from cancer over the last year.
More than 85 birds were included and parcel delivery firm Amtrak Express boosted the appeal by transporting all the birds free of to the venue in Haslingden, Lancashire.
Rodney said: "The auction was very well received, particularly because of the interest in the Queen's own bird. I was happy to do my bit for such a good cause and Amtrak's support was invaluable as well."
