Councillors have thrown out plans to build a golf driving range on green belt land behind Barden Mill -- a proposal strongly opposed by local residents and environmentalists.
The Brierfield and Reedley Committee followed officers' advice and is rejecting the 15-bay range and shop plan, expected to draw 100 cars a day to the site, on the grounds that it conflicted with planning policies, would disrupt wildlife and cause neighbourhood nuisance.
