RE the letter from Former Academic as signed in The Citizen last week. I was pleased to see your letter, as I have a grouch against the Nominations Committee.
I had proposed a most worthy citizen six years ago and my suggestion was not accepted. Recently, while attending a meeting of the Alumni Association I met the Vice Chancellor. I mentioned my wish to him as the aforementioned citizen has since distinguished himself even more. Prof Ritchie told me to address my request to him. I did, and received the reply that the Hon. Degree nominations had already been selected for 2001.
