Folly Lane 4 Blackpool Scorpions 36

AN EXCELLENT display saw Scorpions beat a strong Folly Lane side which included players with Premier League experience.

The Swinton side applied early pressure but after 12 minutes Gareth Chadwick intercepted a stray pass and raced 70 yards to score. Craig Campbell converted.

Scorpions then played excellent rugby with some sweeping moves only let down by the final passes.

Loose forward Dave Tanner broke down the middle and as he was tackled, slipped the ball to Neil Gavaghan to scoreunder the posts. Craig Campbell converted and minutes later kicked a penalty to make the score 14-0 at the break. After the re-start Scorpions gave away penalties and Lane scored an unconverted try.

Eventually Scorpions got some good possession and Andy Johnston and Gareth Chadwick combined to put Julien Irving through and he raced 40 yards to the line. Campbell's conversion kick hit the bar.

Campbell then showed his speed as he took a pass from Simon Pritchard and he outstripped the cover defence to score.

A few minutes later he went 80 yards down the left wing to score again.

The Swinton side were tiring by now and Andy Johnston picked up a loose ball and as he was tackled fed the ball to Neil Gavaghan who was once again supporting the man with the ball. He dived over the line under the posts to give Campbell an easy conversion.
