BLACKPOOL schoolchildren have been showing off their art skills in a competition to design Blackpool North MP Joan Humble's official Christmas card.
Rather than opt for the standard card depicting a tree amid a homely scene, Mrs Humble wanted something a bit special and she asked youngsters to send in their designs.
A prizegiving ceremony was held at Frank Townend Community Centre, Beach Road, Cleveleys, and the winner was Laura Clarke from St Bernadette's RC Primary School, Bispham. There were runners up from a variety of schools.
Mrs Humble said the response was great, adding: "I am delighted with the standard of the replies I have received." A number of local businesses donated prizes for the competition including Lofthouses of Fleetwood, P & O Ferries Ltd and Radio Wave.
