CHILDREN from King Edward VII and Queen Mary Infant School celebrated a Victorian Christmas this year with a superb adaptation of Dickens's A Christmas Carol -- and emphasised the importance of giving at Christmas.

This theme was then put into actual practice by the pupils who were asked to bring in toys and presents along with food parcels to give to homeless families in Blackpool.

Headmistress Meg Hargreaves explained: "The children are so lucky and well looked after that it is important they realise there are children and families not as fortunate as themselves.

"We collected just over one hundred presents in total and managed to make up fifty food parcels, which are all to be given out this week."
