TWO Atherton brothers swept the board in the recent Howe Bridge Aces club swimming championships.

Daniel Canavan, aged 13 and his nine years old brother Scott won several individual gold medals, helping them both to land the overall club championships in their respective age groups.

A pupil at St Mary's RC School, Astley, Daniel finished first in the 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 100m crawl and 50m fly while he also helped the Howe Bridge club win the Central Lancs jubilee event and finish second in the Bolton and District club championships.

Scott, a pupil at St Richard's School, Atherton, won the 25m crawl, 25m backstroke, 25m freestyle and the 25m breaststroke.

He also finished finishing fourth in the higher 11 age group indivdual medley and freestyle events. In so doing, Scott helped Howe Bridge to second in the Bolton and District championships.
