LEIGH Harriers had another outstanding weekend as they collected another 11 awards at events across the region.

Adele Swanton won the North West Women's Under 15s overall league title at Bolton while Toni Bowers took the Under 20s crown.

Gemma Farley led Leigh's Under 13s girls team to an outstanding win in the annual Sale Harriers Young Athletes Cross-Country races.

Bowers became the first Leigh Harrier to win the North West Women's Under 20s title when, in the final race of three at Bolton's Leverhulme Park, she beat all her closest rivals over three miles.

Finishing in third place, but first overall, Swanton became only the second Leigh Harrier to win the North West Women's Under 15s league title. After an average run at Stockport, in which she finished fifth, Swanton won at Boggart Hole Clough and clinched the title with a second place at Bolton.

The Leigh team of Lizzy Heaton, Amanda Fearnley, Laura Morris and Amy Wood won the under 15s third team medals.

Leigh's under 13s girls had an excellent day at Sale's Cosford Bridge. Gemma Farley ran her best race of the season, winning the bronze medal. Farley led the Leigh team of Kelly Sawle, Louise Boardman and Emma Morris to first place, ahead of Sale. The team was supported by Zoe Sale (19th), Michaela Walker (23rd), Clare Thompson (25th) and Abigail Baxendale (26th) who won the 'B' team award.

In the boys Under 9s event there was a promising run from Isaac McCann who just missed out on a medal, finishing fourth. Joe Evans gave a spirited run, finishing in 26th spot.

The Under 9s girls event saw Sally Boardman finish in 15th place, one place ahead of Abigial Howarth with Kirsten Howarth in 21st place.

In the Under 11s boys race Lee Battersby was 32nd and Calum Walker 43rd. In the girls event Lauren Howarth was 68th.

Nick Peers had a good run in the Under 13s event, finishing 16th. Daniel Hunter was 34th.
