THE search is on for Britain's business woman of the year ... and she may be here in East Lancashire.
Nominations are being invited in the 28th annual Veuve Clicquot Award Business Woman of the Year which aims to highlight the work done by the country's female entrepreneurs.
The winner brings national recognition as well as a silver trophy and a visit to the Veuve Clicquot vineyards in Reims. The award will be announced during a ceremony at Claridge's, London.
East Lancashire has been recognised in the past. In 1992 Mavis Gradwell, joint managing director of Altham-based corporate clothing company Simon Jersey was a finalist although she missed out on the top title. The following year Jean Wilson, chairman of Bolton firm Vernacare was nominated for the award.
Previous winners include Anita Roddick, of The Body Shop, and Ann Gloag, of travel group Stagecoach.
