THE global reputation of a Lancashire carpet firm has received another boost from one of the top hotels in Korea.

Cavalier Carpets, of Blackburn, has won a £250,000 contract from the luxurious 500-bedroomed Renaissance Hotel in Seoul.

The order comes just weeks after Cavalier Carpets was given the go ahead to cover the bedroom floors at the imposing Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington DC.

"We are thrilled to have gained another prestigious deal," says Hans Lowe, the firm's export manager.

The latest contract involves installing more than 11,000 square metres of top quality Axminster at the Renaissance where the ultra-modern facilities include an indoor golf driving range.

Mr Lowe recently returned from a trip to the hotel.

He said: "It is very impressive and the owners are paying close attention to every detail.

"They made it clear from the outset that they wanted to find a British carpet manufacturer due to the emphasis on traditional quality.

"I went over to also help advise them on various fitting and design techniques."

The hotel owners, Sambu Construction, of Seoul, sent their foreign trade manager, Do Soon Sok, over to Lancashire on an exchange trip.

"Mr Sok visited our headquarters and then went down to our manufacturing plant in Selous Road where he could see the carpet on the loom," added Mr Lowe.

Cavalier employs 250 people and has an annual turnover of £20 million.
