A LEIGH licensee was delighted to hand over a cheque for hundreds of pounds to the Stroke Association after successfully recovering from a stroke himself.
Alan Cleworth of Bedford Village Club handed over a check for £600 to Stroke Association representatives.
The money was raised from a special charity evening held at the club which was attended by over 100 members.
"On the night," said Alan, "we raised funds from a lottery and from the sale of tickets for the event."
For Alan, the association has a personal significance. Two years ago he suffered from a stroke but has thankfully now fully recovered.
He added: "We raised more than we expected and I would like to thank everybody who supported us."
