ATHERTON school children are helping create an education programme for a brand new science festival.

Pupils from Atherton St George's CE Primary School and Brookfield High School, Hindley have helped design the education programme for the first North West Science Festival (NWSF).

Last Thursday children and teachers formed an editorial board to design the programme so NWSF is in tune with young people's vision.

NWSF is the brainchild of Science Communication International Ltd.

"The aim of NWSF is to create a vehicle for education, industry and citizens throughout the North West, binding them together in the pursuit of innovation and discovery," said Christiane Hutchinson, SCIL managing director.

The week long festival will take place throughout the region and will address what is needed to create wealth and quality of life in the context of technology and knowledge led economies.

The editorial board is looking for sponsors to support the project.
