A BLACKPOOL man is depending on the generosity of Lowton people to help trace his ancestors.

Mr C Holden has hit snags in his quest to find out more about the village's 19th century Robinson family.

They lived in Merchants Square and Slag Lane before moving to Abram at the end of the 1880s, first to Ayr Bridge Farm and then to Warrington Road.

Mr Holden said: "I have ancestors in other counties and local people have helped me with information.

"Now I am appealing to Lancashire folk for their assistance."

He is seeking information on Thomas Robinson born in Lowton c1777 who may have been a grocer; George Robinson born c 1817 who died January 19 1838 who was a grocer; John Robinson born c1838 who married Betty; Henry Robinson born c 1821, James Robinson born May 3 1811 who married Betty Lon gton who was born in 1815.

Also George Robinson, a farmer and labourer, born March 29 1842 who married Elizabeth Wood (b1847) and died on March 30 1902; Fred Robinson born March 9 1873, a butcher who married Ann Unsworth (b October 11 1872) and lived at Ashton Road Farm, Golborne.

Mr Holden, of 71, Manor Road, Blackpool, Lancashire, FY1 4EA, said: "Any information on the Robinsons before 1840 would be most helpful. I want to get their history down on paper so it is not lost to future generations."
