FORMER Ewood transfer target Lucien Mettomo could be ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.
Mettomo, who plays for French strugglers St Etienne, now needs an operation after damaging his knee ligaments during last weekend's 2-1 loss to Girondins Bordeaux.
Blackburn boss Graeme Souness had hoped to sign the Cameroon international in a £4 million-plus transfer deal earlier in the season.
But Rovers then pulled out of the deal at the 11th hour after a medical revealed the player had suffered a serious knee injury in the past.
Meanwhile, Denizlispor are closing in on former Rovers target Truggvi Gudmundsson after talks with the player in Norway.
The £500,000-rated Tromso striker had been lined up for a trial with Rovers earlier in the season but his dreams of a move to England collapsed when he got injured.
The Iceland international -- who can play out wide or through the middle and has a powerful left-foot shot -- scored 15 goals and created nine more last season.
