TWO Spanish senoritas have been guests of Blackburn College for the past three weeks.

Rosana Martin de Bernardo and Racquel Brihuega were based at the college's Globex Centre, a special unit that gives students the chance to learn about the world of business by practising trading in a range of commodities.

The girls from Tarragona in southern Spain, brought their own trading portfolios of stationery goods. No actual money changed hands in the practice firm but the girls managed to increase their "company's" profits by 20 per cent in just two weeks.

Tutor Georgina Percival, who arranged the exchanges, said: "The girls really enjoyed their stay in Blackburn and were impressed with both the college and the town."

Students from Blackburn will be able to test their Spanish skills when they pay a return exchange visit to Spain next summer.
