BLACKBURN Rovers' youth face a potential banana skin when they travel to Northampton in the Times Axa FA Youth Cup tonight.

Coach Rob Kelly has likened the third round tie to the senior side playing an FA Cup game at the Sixfields stadium, against a 'big, competitive, well-organised' Northampton.

But Kelly is hoping the magic of the FA Cup will see his young side through.

He said: "The lads can really build themselves up for the Youth Cup. It is our FA Cup, but it is more a big game in the dressing room than out on the pitch.

"It could be described as a banana skin. We are putting out a young side this year, mostly first years and a couple of schoolboys, and for some of them it will be the first time they have played in a stadium under floodlights.

"It can work one of two ways. In the past, we have frozen at times but at others it has lifted our game. They can either rise to it or get caught in the glare.

"It will be a good test, and I don't think all that will bother them, they'll just go and play."

Squad: Robinson, Stone, Taylor, Woodhead, Blakeman, Morgan, Walters, Daws, Nelson, Renton, Bell, Creasy, Byrne.
