STAFF in St Helens Council's customer services unit are playing host to a special feathered guest who winged in last week.

The tame cockatiel was found sheltering on a window ledge at Wesley House in the town centre. They took the bird in and are giving it a home until its owners can be found.

Customer services manager, Anne Thompson, said: "It's obviously a pet as it is very tame and is quite happy for people to hold it."

Given the festive nickname 'Robin', it is now being cared for by Malcolm Clough from customer services in Wesley House.

If anyone thinks that Robin may be their pet cockatiel they can phone 01744 456470.
