A CHARITY band night held at the Sidac Club, Sutton Leach, has raised £1,000 for a children's cancer charity.
The event, organised by local band Screw in the Rock, also featured four other local groups, who donated their time free to help raise funds for the Children Cancer Support (CHICS) charity.
A raffle was also held with prizes including a guitar donated by Barry Gilbert of the band, Trubshaw, a CD, calendar and bottles of wine.
This raised almost £200 in total, while a further £170 was raised by a monthly 'dress-down' day at The Help Desk Centre in Manchester.
Ray Moulsdale, bassist with Screw in the Rock, said: "The evening was a big success and people are already asking when the next one will be. I would like to thank the Star for the good publicity, the Sidac Club, everyone who donated prizes for the raffle and everyone else who helped us in any way."
