THE FEMALE founder of a construction company has won the Merseyside Princes Trust Young Achiever of the Year 2000 award.

Susan Taylor, of Kestral Construction Products, Chalon Industrial Estate, was presented with the award at Liverpool Town Hall in front of more than 140 local community and business leaders, including the Lord Mayor of Liverpool and the Mayors of St Helens, Knowsley and Sefton.

Susan's business, which operates in a traditionally male-dominated environment, was launched two years ago and is expected to achieve £1million turnover within the next few years.

The company advises on, and distributes, specialist technical products to builders, civil engineers and property maintenance organisations in St Helens. Customers include Norwest Holst, H J Heinz, St Helens Council and Tilbury Douglas.

A delighted Susan, said: "I have learned so much in these first two years and I wish to thank everyone connected with the business and the Princes Trust who have been so much help. This award gives me extra confidence to continue expanding our sales area beyong the North West."

Susan received an engraved trophy, a framed certificate and a cheque for £1,000.
