COMPACT disc players and video tapes were presented to the East Lancashire Hospice by a charity set up to raise money for patients.

Catch 22 was set up by friends Tracy Reid and Kerry Jackson when they were both being treated for cancer in the Blackburn hospice.

They called it Catch 22 because they were both 22 at the time.

Sadly Kerry, of Hazel Close, Blackburn, died two years ago, but the fund-raising continued.

Friends joined in holding events in pubs, swimathons and sponsored cycle rides and with the first £1,000 the charity bought tapes and ten personal CD players for patients.

The hospice is currently based at ward eight of Rossendale Hospital while its premises is refurbished.

Tracy, 27, of Heys Lane, Blackburn, said: "We became friends through the illness and four years ago decided to set up the charity to raise money to buy extras for the patients."
