ABUSE against adults was the topic of the No Secrets in Lancashire conference held at Turf Moor this week.

Organised by Lancashire County Council, the event was aimed at developing long term strategies to protect vulnerable adults from abuse and compare arrangements for dealing with abuse in Lancashire with the Government's No Secrets guidance.

It was attended by social workers, health professionals, voluntary organisations, victim support, minority ethnic interest groups and the Lancashire Women and Violence Forum who shared information and ideas with each other.

County Councillor Doreen Pollitt, chairman of the County Council's social services committee, said: "We want to send a strong message to the people of Lancashire that the abuse of vulnerable adults will not be tolerated. The County Council, working with our partners, is determined to stamp out abuse in Lancashire."
