I HAVE been known to be somewhat cynical about the bible and that in the past, but one bloke is out to get archaeological proof.
You may have seen a documentary series on Channel 4 about this, and there is also a website devoted to proving that Sodom and Gomorrah are buried beneath the Dead Sea and the Ark of the Covenant is in somebody's back garden (or something). It also boasts "The Truth about Sadam Hussein" (he's a big fan of Nebuchadnezzar, apparently) and loads of other stuff.
It treads a sometimes uneasy line between scholarship, biblical study and the conspiracy theorists who inhabit the world wide web (especially the bits about the Israeli army) and is often very, very funny indeed; although it probably doesn't mean to be.
