RE the front page (Citizen, Dec 7) "care home battle over" -- is this the sign of things to come, that when you are elderly and for some reason have need to go into an old people's home, that when you have managed to make fresh friends and settled in, along come the infamous social services, supported by Labour councillors, to say "sorry, out you come, we can't afford to keep you there"?

Never mind all the years of effort you have put into the community; never mind the serious and disturbing effect it has on very elderly residents of the home, dear me no!

Twenty-four Labour councillors voted against any thought of help that could be given and they even supported the fact that the whole state of affairs had been disgustingly and outrageously handled, even to the point of making sure the residents didn't have any form of legal or friendly relatives' support present when social services moved their team of inquisitors in. I wonder if all those 24 Labour councillors will be thinking about these residents of Warren Manor when these councillors are sitting in their comfortable homes with their family and friends this Christmas? I doubt it very much!!

If anyone wishes to check on who voted for what, call at the Town Hall library for a copy of the formal record that was entered in the minutes and look for motion 657/658.

To the staff and residents of Warren Manor -- Don't give up so easily and quickly just to satisfy social services and the council. Remember you do have the right of appeal sent to the ombudsman to claim possible compensation. Do it now.

To all those people who supported and voted at the local elections for all those Labour councillors, ask them why and then remember it may be your turn next when you are old and no one seems to care.

Merry Christmas to all those without a guilty conscience.
