THE TANGERONES could give their faithful fans a well earned Christmas present over the festive period by placing themselves in a decent promotion position.

After a traumatic two weeks for the club with a cup exit and off the pitch bust-ups fans can now at last concentrate on the action on the pitch.

With two matches against lowly York and Halifax before the New Year, Pool have the perfect opportunity to place themselves in contention for a play-off position by the New Year.

Friday night's opponents York are currently fifth bottom of the table while Pool's Boxing Day visitors at Bloomfield Road, Halifax Town have only won two games away all season.

Six points would leave Pool handily placed just outside the play-off zone ready for a promotion push.

And with work due to start on the new ground development in mid-January the festive season could truly be one of optimism for fans.

CHAIRMAN Karl Oyston is looking for an investor to join the board give a cash boost to the club.

The Oyston family currently own 95 per cent of shares at club but the chairman has indicated he is willing to reduce this if someone else would be willing to become a director. It is understodd the investor could buy between 15 and 20 per cent of shares in the club.

IN RESPONSE to fans enquiries about what happened to the cash from last season's Break the Gate scheme went, the club has revealed a substantial part of the £35,000 raised went to pay for Andy Morrison's wages during his loan period at Bloomfield Road.

But the rest of the cash could be given to manager Steve McMahon to bring a new player to the club, possibly before the end of the week.

DEFENDER Brian Reid, on loan from Dunfermline, wants to extend his stay at Bloomfield Road and is hoping to be given a permanent contract.
